Privacy Policy

PresentRead is a web experience that helps visitors discover books through a card-based mood space. The current product does not require an account and does not ask for a name, email address, password, payment details, or reading history.

This policy explains what information PresentRead uses, why it is used, and what choices visitors have.

PresentRead is operated by an independent individual, not a company. For the purposes of data protection law, that operator is the data controller responsible for the information described in this policy.

For any privacy question or request, including the rights described below, visitors can contact the operator at privacy@presentread.com.

We use the information needed to run the service, create reading mood shortlists, maintain shareable pages, understand aggregate product usage, and protect the service.

• Card choices, placement details, genre preference, and generated shortlist data.
• Shareable page identifiers and the book shortlist shown on those pages.
• Campaign attribution values when a visitor arrives from a tagged link.
• Consent cookie values that record whether analytics was accepted or declined.
• Analytics events after consent, such as page views and product interaction events.
• Basic technical logs needed for security, debugging, and service reliability.
• Browser local storage values for local-only features such as saving books to a shelf.

PresentRead uses a cookie banner before optional analytics starts. If a visitor accepts, PresentRead may initialize PostHog analytics to understand aggregate usage and improve the product. If a visitor declines, optional analytics is not initialized.

The consent choice is stored in a first-party cookie named presentread_consent for 90 days.

Some book links may send visitors to Amazon through affiliate links. PresentRead may earn from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to the visitor.

Amazon and other third-party sites have their own privacy practices. PresentRead does not control those sites after a visitor leaves PresentRead.

Shortlist pages may be available through shareable links. Anyone with a shortlist link may be able to view the books shown on that page. Visitors should only share a shortlist link if they are comfortable with others seeing it.

For visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, PresentRead relies on the following legal bases under the GDPR and UK GDPR.

• Consent, for optional analytics that only runs after a visitor accepts the cookie banner. Visitors can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests, for running the service securely, creating shortlists, maintaining shareable pages, and understanding aggregate usage in a privacy-respecting way.

PresentRead keeps information only as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, maintain shareable pages, measure aggregate product performance, comply with obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service.

Visitors can decline optional analytics in the cookie banner. They can change that choice by clearing site cookies in their browser and visiting PresentRead again.

Visitors can also contact PresentRead at privacy@presentread.com about privacy questions or requests.

Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have rights over their personal data under the GDPR and UK GDPR. Because PresentRead does not require an account and holds very little information that identifies an individual, some rights may not apply in practice, but visitors may still exercise the following.

• Access a copy of personal data PresentRead holds about them.
• Request correction of inaccurate data or deletion of their data.
• Object to or request restriction of certain processing.
• Withdraw analytics consent at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing.
• Lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.

PresentRead is not directed to children under 13. If PresentRead learns that it has collected personal information from a child under 13, it will take reasonable steps to delete it.

PresentRead may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page shows when the current version took effect.
